As ‘Throwback Thursday’ comes to a close I wanted to show today’s theme: Inspirational Songs. Music has always been a great influence for most, if not all of us.It’s like the great magician who makes an object disappear before your eyes or a time machine that moves you through time with great ease. Music’s ability to evoke mood and memory has always been a source of interest for most, and its uncanny ability to evoke change in our society makes it a powerful influence.
After staying up last night until the wee hours of the morning working on a review about Kendrick Lamar’s, “Alright” video, I wasn’t in the mood to do anything for #ThrowbackThursday. Then, I figured even if my twitter followers are not responding, they might be looking forward to the posts. After all, I have done this for a few weeks now and it is one of the funniest things that I do on Twitter. With no time for preparation, I came up with a random short list of inspirational songs. The motivation came when I heard “Optimistic,”by Sounds of Blackness on WDASFM 105.3.
1. “Optimistic” by Sounds of Blackness (1991) –Music Only
2. “Keep Your Head up” by Tupac Shakur (1993)
3. “Black & White” by Michael Jackson (1991)
4. “Will You be there” by Michael Jackson (1991)
5. “Get Up and Stand Up” by Bob Marley (1973)
6. “Loose Yourself” by Eminem (2002)
Next week’s throwbacks will include a mixture, movies, television and fashion from the 80’s. Until then, enjoy your weekend. Happy 4th! 🎆
